What is the next-generation console - PlayStation 5 ?
The PS5 is an upcoming next-gen console from Sony. It offering more powerful specs and a space-age interface, is a huge leap forward from its predecessor. The new Xbox Series X and the Nintendo Switch will be its biggest rivals.
With its space-age black-and-white colour scheme looking a bit different from the PlayStations 4, the Playstation 5 is a very different-looking console to the Playstation 4.There’s more than one PS5 console releasing this year, though, as Sony has also confirmed it’s going to be releasing a PS5 Digital Edition – a streamlined, digital-only console without a disc drive.
As for the PlayStation 5 controller, well before we saw the console, we got an official look at it. Sony calls it Dual Sense, and to date, it’s the greatest style divergence from any PlayStation controller. Also a departure is the black-and-white color scheme that is bold – and likely to be divisive. That’s the confirmed design in the picture below, and it’s closely mirrored by the PS5 console design, as you’ve already seen.
Sony also announced that the controller is venturing haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and an integrated microphone array. It also comes with a USB-C charging port and Sony replaces the Share button with a brand new Build button, but it has not yet disclosed what it does. We expect to see it released alongside the PS5 with a standalone price of $69.99.
sony ps5 release date & price
For the standard version, the PS5 price is set at $499, or $399 for the Digital Version. Although the former is the same as the Xbox Series X, $100 is actually cheaper than the PS5 Digital, the all-digital Series S. The PS5 Digital is better than the Xbox Series S, but it’s still worth remembering that if you opt for Microsoft, the barrier to next-gen entry is cheaper.
What are the Differences between PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition ?
Difference between the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition, Owing to the missing optical drive, the designs are slightly different. The PS5 Digital Version looks a little better if we’re being honest, as the bulge added by the drive throws off the symmetry of the unit. If you’re getting the PS5 Digital Edition over the regular model you will have to buy the games digitally also you don’t have the option of getting games or sharing from friends but you can save some money on this.
The PS5 will allure some serious improvements over the PS4, according to PlayStation 5 Lead System Architect Mark Cerny.
Compresion between specification of PS4 and PS5
Popular video games like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Minecraft, among others turned on NVIDIA RTX real-time ray-tracing technology. On a concluding note, Huang stated that the second-generation NVIDIA RTX fusing programmable shading, ray tracing and AI would provide photorealistic graphics and the highest frame rates simultaneously.

The PS5 is rocking an AMD Zen 2-based CPU with 8 cores at 3.5GHz, 16GB of GDDR6 memory, and a custom RDNA 2 AMD GPU that puts out 10.28 TFLOPs of processing power. This combination of CPU and GPU will allow the PS5 to use acceleration in ray tracing. Ray tracing is an innovative lighting technique that can take in-game graphics to a whole new level by mimicking the way light interacts in an environment more realistically.
For the PlayStation 5 experience, the SSD is playing the critical role. Internal capacity for the custom SSD will be built in at 825 GB – that’s less than you’ll find in the Xbox Series X, but with just as smart a technology implementation. SSDs not only load faster but potentially allow for larger open worlds. Because of the limitations of mechanical hard drives, developers don’t need to create games with smaller worlds while SSDs would also allow machine memory to be used more effectively.
You’ll also have more control over how you install and remove games, meaning you could just install a game’s multiplayer mode rather than the full block of data. This will allow for the launch of direct game play, allowing players to jump straight into aspects of different games without having to boot up the full game.
Epic Games has actually revealed that the SSD of the PS5 is so fast that to take full advantage of it, the developer had to rework its Unreal Engine 5 software demo.
“The ability to stream content at intense speeds helps developers to create denser and more detailed worlds, changing the way we think about streaming content,” Nick Penwarden, engineering vice president of Epic Games, told VG247. “It’s so impactful that we have rewritten our core I / O subsystems for Unreal Engine with the PlayStation 5 in mind.”
The new custom AMD computing unit-based Tempest Engine of the console is the last big thing Sony revealed during the PS5 deep-dive. This new technology will allow gamers to experience high-quality 3D in-game audio with even the most simple headphones or speakers using custom Head-related Transfer Function (HRTF) maps.
PS5 Games
In addition, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan told the Washington Post in mid-September that “99 percent” of PS4 games can be played on the PS5. The company confirmed it will be compatible with “the vast majority of the 4,000 + PS4 franchises.”
At launch, the PlayStation 5 will be backward-compatible with almost any PlayStation 4 title.
We will not only see backward compatibility with PS4 games, but expect that any newly released first-party PS4 game, such as Ghost of Tsushima, will be cross-gen titles (although Sony has not yet committed to this). Furthermore, any new first-party PS4 games submitted to Sony for certification after July 13 must be PS5 compatible, making them essentially forward-compatible titles.
